A Louisiana Notary Public is a commissioned public officer with the authority to perform notarial acts such as acknowledgments, jurats (oaths), administer oaths, witness signatures, and certify documents.
Louisiana law requires that a notary reasonably identify the signer. Acceptable forms of identification include:
• Louisiana driver’s license or state ID card (unexpired, issued by OMV)
• U.S. Passport (book or card)
• Other U.S. state driver’s licenses or IDs (valid and unexpired)
• Military ID (with photograph)
• Permanent Resident (Green Card) or other federal government-issued ID
IDs must be current, contain a photograph, signature, and physical description, and match the name on the document. If no acceptable ID is available, the notary may rely on personal knowledge of the signer or credible witnesses who can swear to the signer’s identity. Social Security cards, birth certificates, and work badges are not sufficient on their own.
We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location.
We offer a variety of professional services, including:
• Standard notary & witness services (mobile or in-office)
• Remote Online Notarization (RON)
• Apostille & Authentication processing
• Wedding & Officiant services
• Government contracting support, templates & consulting
No. You should not sign your document ahead of time. A notary must witness your signature at the time of notarization in order to verify your identity and confirm that you are signing willingly. If you sign before meeting with the notary, the document may not be valid and could be rejected.
A valid government-issued photo ID (passport, driver’s license, etc.); a reliable device with camera, microphone, and internet connection; unsigned documents uploaded or emailed in advance; a quiet, well-lit location where your face and ID are clearly visible; and payment of the booking fee and balance as invoiced
No. BNES cannot provide legal advice. Our services are not a substitute for an attorney. If you need legal advice or representation, you should consult a licensed attorney in your area.
Louisiana law is very different from most other states. While most states follow common law, Louisiana is based on civil
law (influenced by the Napoleonic Code). This means our forms, procedures, and requirements are unique. Online templates or national providers like LegalZoom often use generic forms that are not valid under Louisiana law. Using the wrong form can result in rejected filings, invalid contracts, or costly delays. BNES ensures your documents are prepared correctly for Louisiana’s civil law system.
Yes. BNES offers mobile notary services at nursing homes, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and correctional institutions. Because these environments may have additional security or scheduling requirements, we
ask clients to:
1. Confirm facility visitation rules in advance.
2. Ensure the signer is alert, willing, and able to sign.
3. Provide valid government-issued identification for the signer.
4. Arrange for any required witnesses (some facilities do not provide staff as witnesses).
Additional travel or wait time fees may apply depending on location and circumstances.
BNES provides mobile notary services within a two-hour driving radius of Baton Rouge. Travel within 20 miles is included. For travel beyond 20 miles, we charge $1.50 per mile (round trip) from zip code 70818. This ensures fair pricing for long-distance appointments while keeping services accessible for clients across the region.
Depending on the service, there will be a non-refundable booking fee which is applied to secure your appointment. You will receive a detailed invoice showing your
booking fee, total cost, and any travel or additional processing fees. For an estimate submit form, email info@bontonnotaryexpress.com, call and/or text 225-573-5656.
Louisiana law requires RON session recordings to be stored securely for 10 years. BNES complies fully with this requirement.
